Yaar Kannan is a filmmaker who made his directorial debut with the horror film Yaar? (1985). He directed several films in the late 1980s, collaborating with Ramarajan on titles such as Namma Ooru Nayagan (1988), Anbu Kattalai (1989), and Kaavalan (1990). Kannan returned to filmmaking with Yuga (2006), a low-budget science-fiction project, and later supervised the Tamil version of Punnami Naagu, released as Pournami Naagam (2010). In the 2010s, he transitioned to acting, appearing in films like Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam.
