Wood Harris is an American actor who first gained attention for his role as Motaw in the film Above the Rim (1994). He portrayed high school football player Julius Campbell in Remember the Titans (2000) and played Jimi Hendrix in the television film Hendrix (2000). Harris played drug kingpin Avon Barksdale in the HBO series The Wire (2002–2008). His film credits include roles in Paid in Full (2002), Ant-Man (2015), Dredd (2012), and Creed III (2023). In addition to his film work, he has appeared in television series such as Empire and BMF. Harris's portrayal of Avon Barksdale is a defining role in his career.
