William Hootkins is an American actor who portrayed Lieutenant Eckhardt in Batman (1989). He began his film career in the mid-1970s, appearing in notable roles such as the Rebel pilot who dies during the Death Star attack in Star Wars (1977) and Major Eaton in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). Hootkins also featured in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) and Blessed (2004). His television credits include guest appearances in series like Cagney and Lacey, Poirot, and The West Wing. Hootkins received acclaim for his portrayal of Sir Alfred Hitchcock in the play Hitchcock Blonde.
