Walter Matthau was an American actor who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Fortune Cookie (1966). He gained prominence through notable performances in films such as A Face in the Crowd (1957), King Creole (1958), and The Bad News Bears (1976), where he played a little league coach. Matthau frequently collaborated with Jack Lemmon, appearing together in ten films, including The Odd Couple (1968) and Grumpy Old Men (1993). His work extended to Broadway, where he originated the role of Oscar Madison in Neil Simon's The Odd Couple, earning a Tony Award in 1965. Matthau also starred in California Suite (1978).
