Virginia Madsen is an American actress and film producer who made her film debut in Class (1983). She played Princess Irulan in David Lynch's science fiction film Dune (1984). Madsen portrayed Helen Lyle in the horror film Candyman (1992) and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Alexander Payne's Sideways (2004). Her work extends to television, with appearances in series such as Moonlighting (1989), Frasier (1998), and Designated Survivor (2016–2017). Madsen also featured in The Number 23 (2007) and The Rainmaker (1997).
