Vera Farmiga is an American actress who made her film debut in Down to the Bone (2004). She gained prominence with her role in the political thriller The Manchurian Candidate (2004) and the crime drama The Departed (2006). Farmiga is known for her performances in horror films, particularly as Lorraine Warren in the Conjuring Universe, which includes The Conjuring (2013), The Conjuring 2 (2016), and The Nun (2018). She received an Academy Award nomination for her role in Up in the Air (2009) and made her directorial debut with Higher Ground (2011). Additionally, she starred in the monster film Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019). Farmiga was nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards for her role in Bates Motel (2013–2017).
