Tracee Ellis Ross is an American actress who starred as Dr. Rainbow Johnson in the ABC comedy series Black-ish (2014–2022). She gained prominence for her role as Joan Clayton in the UPN/CW series Girlfriends (2000–2008), earning two NAACP Image Awards. Ross has appeared in several films, including Hanging Up (2000), Daddy's Little Girls (2007), and The High Note (2020), where she also recorded the soundtrack. She received five Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on Black-ish. In addition to her acting career, she co-created the spin-off Mixed-ish in 2019. Ross has won a Golden Globe Award for her performance in Black-ish.
