Toru Furuya is a veteran seiyū who provided the voice for Amuro Ray in Mobile Suit Gundam and its sequels. He began his career as a child actor with Gekidan Himawari and is affiliated with Aoni Production. Furuya has voiced several notable characters, including Pegasus Seiya in Saint Seiya, Yamcha in Dragon Ball Z, and Tuxedo Mask in Sailor Moon. His work extends to films such as Paprika (2006) and One Piece: Stampede (2019). Furuya was the first Japanese voice actor for Mario. He also used the pseudonym Noboru Sōgetsu for his role in Mobile Suit Gundam 00.
