Tom Savini is an American special effects and makeup artist who directed the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead. He worked on significant horror films, including Dawn of the Dead (1978), Creepshow (1982), and Friday the 13th (1980). In addition to his work behind the scenes, Savini has appeared in front of the camera in films such as From Dusk till Dawn (1996) and Grindhouse (2007). Although he is officially retired from special effects, he remains active in directing and producing. Savini worked on Machete Kills (2013) and has trained new talent in the field of movie makeup effects.
