Todd McFarlane is a Canadian cartoonist and writer who created the character Spawn for the comic book series of the same name, which debuted in 1992. He gained prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s for his work on Marvel Comics' Spider-Man franchise. McFarlane co-founded Image Comics, where he transformed Spawn into a significant figure in the comic book industry, influencing the trend of creator-owned properties. Beyond comics, he has ventured into entrepreneurship with McFarlane Toys and Todd McFarlane Entertainment. He also served as the Art Director for 38 Studios, founded by baseball player Curt Schilling. The film adaptation of Spawn was released in 1997.
