Tika Sumpter is an American actress and producer who made her film debut in Stomp the Yard: Homecoming (2010). She gained recognition for her role as Candace Young in the soap opera The Haves and the Have Nots, which aired from 2013 to 2021. Sumpter has appeared in several notable films, including Ride Along (2014), Ride Along 2 (2016), Get On Up (2014), and Nobody's Fool (2018). She starred as Maddie Wachowski in the action-adventure comedy Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) and its sequels. In 2016, she produced and portrayed Michelle Robinson Obama in Southside with You, earning a nomination for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture.
