Táta Vega is an American singer who provided the vocals for Shug Avery in *The Color Purple* (1985). She began her professional singing career in 1963 and gained prominence through her performances in the Los Angeles production of the musical *Hair*. Vega has released several solo albums, including *Full Speed Ahead* (1976) and *Totally Táta* (1977), and is recognized for the song "Get It Up for Love." She has collaborated with Stevie Wonder and Madonna. In addition to her music career, she appeared in the documentary *20 Feet from Stardom* (2013). Vega's work in *The Color Purple* was part of an Oscar-nominated soundtrack.
