Swoosie Kurtz is an American actress who began her career in theater during the 1970s. She gained significant recognition for her performance in the NBC drama Sisters during the 1990s. Kurtz has appeared in a variety of films since the late 1970s, including Dangerous Liaisons (1988), Citizen Ruth (1996), and Liar Liar (1997). Her work in television earned her one Emmy Award from ten nominations, while her theater work has resulted in two Tony Awards from five nominations. She also featured in Duplex (2003).
