Susannah York was a British actress who won a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress for her role in They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969). She received an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe nomination for the same film. York also earned the Best Actress award at the 1972 Cannes Film Festival for her performance in Images. Her work in notable films during the 1960s helped establish her international acclaim, and she was recognized as an Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1991. She appeared in Superman (1978) among other significant titles.
