Suranne Jones is an English actress and producer who gained prominence for her role as Karen McDonald in ITV's Coronation Street from 2000 to 2004. She has collaborated frequently with screenwriter Sally Wainwright and has starred in various drama series, including Vincent (2005–2006), Unforgiven (2009), and Scott & Bailey (2011–2016), where she played Detective Rachel Bailey. Jones received critical acclaim for her performance as Gemma Foster in Doctor Foster (2015–2017), earning her the British Academy Television Award for Best Actress in 2016. Other notable works include Save Me (2018), Vigil (2021), and Gentleman Jack (2019–2022), for which she also served as an executive producer. In 2025, she appears in Hostage.
