Stephen Keenan was an Irish freediving safety diver and co-owner of Dahab Freedivers, holding several national freediving records. He served as Chief of Safety at the Vertical Blue Freediving Competitions. In 2017, Keenan tragically died during a rescue attempt to assist freediver Alessia Zecchini from a depth of 50 meters in Dahab's Blue Hole, marking the first recorded death of a safety diver in freediving history. He had successfully rescued Alexey Molchanov from a depth of 40 meters. He appeared in The Deepest Breath (2023).
