Stan Shaw is an American actor who began his career in the Chicago production of the Broadway musical Hair. He appeared in the 1976 film Rocky as Dipper, a boxer, and portrayed Will Palmer, Alex Haley's maternal grandfather, in the 1979 miniseries Roots: The Next Generations. Shaw's film credits include notable roles in Tough Enough (1983), Harlem Nights (1989), and Snake Eyes (1998). He also starred in The Boys in Company C (1978) and The Great Santini (1979). His television appearances encompass shows such as Matlock, Murder, She Wrote, and The X-Files. Shaw has a background in martial arts, holding black belts in judo and jujutsu, as well as a second dan in karate.
