Sonny Chiba was a Japanese actor and martial artist who gained prominence for his role as Kōtarō Ran in the tokusatsu series Seven Color Mask (1969). He became a significant figure in the martial arts film genre, achieving international fame with his performance in The Street Fighter (1974). Chiba also appeared in notable films such as Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) and Fast & Furious 3: Tokyo Drift (2006). In addition to acting, he earned a black belt in Kyokushin Karate in 1965 and a fourth degree in 1984. His influence on action cinema is marked by his pioneering work in the genre.
