Sofía Álvarez is a Mexican actress and singer of Colombian origin who made her film debut in the 1930 talkie Santa. She gained fame in the 1930s and 1940s, often appearing as elegant ladies in films such as El sombrero de tres picos and México de mis recuerdos (1943). Álvarez starred alongside notable actors like Mario Moreno Cantinflas in Ahí está el detalle (1940) and Pedro Infante in Si me han de matar mañana (1946), La barca de oro (1947), and Soy charro de Rancho Grande (1947). After a hiatus, she returned to cinema from 1957 to 1966, with her final film being El Gángster (1965).
