Shirley MacLaine is an American actress who made her film debut in Alfred Hitchcock's black comedy The Trouble with Harry (1955). She gained prominence through her performances in Around the World in 80 Days (1956), The Apartment (1960), and Terms of Endearment (1983), for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress. Throughout her extensive career, MacLaine has received numerous accolades, including six Golden Globe Awards and two British Academy Film Awards. She also starred in Postcards from the Edge (1990) and has authored several books on metaphysics and spirituality. In 2012, she was honored with the AFI Life Achievement Award.
