Shashi Kapoor was an Indian actor and film producer who starred in the Merchant Ivory film 'The Householder' (1963). He had a prolific career in both Hindi cinema and international films, with performances in titles such as 'Silsila' (1981), 'Maa Beti' (1986), 'Suhana Safar' (1970), and 'Baseraa' (1981). A member of the renowned Kapoor family, he won four National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards. In 2011, he received the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian honor, from the Government of India.
