Sela Ward is an American actress who made her film debut in The Man Who Loved Women (1983). She gained prominence for her role as Teddy Reed on the television series Sisters, earning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 1994. Ward starred as Helen Kimble in The Fugitive (1993), a significant film of the early '90s, and appeared in The Day After Tomorrow (2004) alongside Dennis Quaid. Her performance in the TV movie Almost Golden: The Jessica Savitch Story (1995) won her a CableACE Award. In addition to her film work, she played newswoman Sharon Schieber in Gone Girl (2014) and the President in Independence Day: Resurgence (2016).
