Saeed Jaffrey is an Indian-born British actor who made his film debut in the 1965 BBC version of A Passage to India. He appeared in notable films such as The Man Who Would Be King (1975), Gandhi (1982), and My Beautiful Laundrette (1985). In addition to his work in British cinema, Jaffrey starred in various Bollywood films during the 1980s and 1990s, including Dil (1990), Deewana Mastana (1997), and Chaalbaaz (1989). His television credits include roles in Gangsters (1975–1978) and The Jewel in the Crown (1984). Jaffrey received the OBE and performed in Shatranj Ke Khiladi (The Chess Players) (1977).
