Ruth Sheen is an English actress who won the Best Actress award at the 1989 European Film Awards for her role as Shirley in High Hopes (1988). Sheen has had a prolific career in British television and film since 1988, including notable performances in five films directed by Mike Leigh, such as Vera Drake (2004) and Another Year (2010). Her television credits feature recurring roles as Nanny Simmons in Berkeley Square (1998) and Nurse Ethel Carr in Bramwell (1995–1998), along with multiple appearances in The Bill. In addition to her film work, she played Lyn in the world premiere of Philip Ridley's Leaves of Glass in 2007. Sheen also appears in Cyrano (2021) and Touch (2024).
