Ruth Lawrence is a filmmaker who directed the feature film Little Orphans, which won Best Canadian Feature at the Whistler Film Festival in 2020. Based in St. John's, NL, her body of work includes the documentaries A Lot of Love in the Room (2021) and Circus by Komatik (2019), both featured on CBC Gem. She has also directed, written, and produced over 70 short films and webisodes, and her comedy feature Party Pirate had a sold-out opening Gala at the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival in October 2023. Ruth's accolades include the RBC Michelle Jackson Award for Emerging Filmmaker and the Queen’s Jubilee Medal. She directed Screamers: The Hunting in 2009.
