Rudy Youngblood is a Native American actor who played Jaguar Paw in Apocalypto (2006). Of Comanche, Cree, and Yaqui heritage, he was selected for his leading role through a general casting call by director Mel Gibson. Youngblood learned the Yucatec Maya language specifically for this film. In addition to acting, he is a Native dancer and has performed with the American Indian Dance Theater. His performance in Apocalypto remains a significant highlight of his career.
