Roger Rees was a Welsh-American actor and director who gained prominence for his performance in the Royal Shakespeare Company's adaptation of 'Nicholas Nickleby,' earning both an Olivier Award and a Tony Award. He began his career in theater after initially training as a painter and made his acting debut at the Wimbledon Theater in 1965. Rees played Robin Colcord in the television series 'Cheers' during the 1989-90 season and received Obie Awards for his work in 'The End of the Day' and as co-director of 'Peter and the Starcatcher.' He became a U.S. citizen in 1989 and was married to Rick Elice. Rees passed away on July 10, 2015, while performing in 'The Visit.'
