Roger Delgado was the first actor to portray The Master in Doctor Who. He began his television career in 1948 and appeared in various productions, including The Terror of the Tongs in 1961. Born to a Belgian mother and a Spanish father, Delgado served as a major during World War II before transitioning to acting. His career included notable roles in both television and film, culminating in his participation in the Franco/German production La Cloche tibétaine, where he tragically died in a car accident. He was married twice, with his second wife, Kismet Shahani, surviving him.
