Roger Corman is an American film director, producer, and actor who directed over 500 features, significantly impacting independent cinema. His notable works include The Little Shop of Horrors (1960), The Intruder (1962), and the Edgar Allan Poe adaptations, starting with House of Usher (1960). Corman co-founded New World Pictures and was instrumental in the careers of many filmmakers, including Francis Ford Coppola and Martin Scorsese. He received an Academy Honorary Award in 2009. Corman produced Rachel Getting Married (2008).
