Robert Ryan was an American actor. His breakthrough performance came in the film noir Crossfire (1947), where he played an anti-Semitic killer, earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Ryan's notable films include The Set-Up (1949), where he depicted an aging boxer, and On Dangerous Ground (1951), portraying a disillusioned city cop. He also starred in The Professionals (1966) and the influential western The Wild Bunch (1969). In addition to his film career, Ryan appeared on Broadway in productions such as Clash by Night and The Front Page. He had guest roles in various television series, including The Eleventh Hour and Wagon Train.
