Robert Redford is an American actor, director, and activist who won an Academy Award for Best Director for Ordinary People (1980). He made his film debut in War Hunt (1962) and gained fame with roles in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) and The Sting (1973). Redford starred in All the President's Men (1976) and played a lead role in Out of Africa (1985), which won seven Oscars. He founded the Sundance Film Festival and received an honorary Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2002. Redford won a Golden Globe for Inside Daisy Clover (1965).
