Rinko Kikuchi is a Japanese actress who was the first from her country to receive an Academy Award nomination in half a century. She gained international recognition for her role in "Babel" (2006), which earned her this historic nomination. Kikuchi has appeared in various films, including "Pacific Rim" (2013), "Pacific Rim: Uprising" (2018), "47 Ronin" (2013), and "Terra Formars" (2016). She remains Japan's only living female nominee in acting categories, following Miyoshi Umeki's win in 1957.
