Richard Gere is an American actor and producer who gained prominence for his role in American Gigolo (1980). He began his film career in the 1970s with a supporting part in Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977) and starred in Days of Heaven (1978). Gere has appeared in numerous notable films, including An Officer and a Gentleman (1982), Primal Fear (1996), and Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009). His performance in the musical Chicago (2002) earned him a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the ensemble cast.
