Richard Dreyfuss is an American actor who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in The Goodbye Girl (1977). He began his career in the late 1960s and has appeared in notable films such as American Graffiti (1973), Jaws (1975), and Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977). Dreyfuss received nominations for his roles in Mr. Holland's Opus (1995) and for the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2002. His other works include Stand by Me (1986), Poseidon (2006), and RED (2010). He has also earned a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA Award during his career.
