Richard Attenborough was an English actor and filmmaker who won two Academy Awards for directing Gandhi (1982). He appeared in notable films such as Brighton Rock (1947), The Great Escape (1963), and Miracle on 34th Street (1994). Attenborough also played significant roles in Jurassic Park (1993) and its sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997). He served as President of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. He was married to actress Sheila Sim for nearly seven decades. Attenborough received four BAFTA Awards and four Golden Globe Awards.
