Rehman is a Pushtun actor who played the role of Chhote Sarkar in Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam (1962). He began his film career as a third assistant director for Vishram Bedekar and transitioned to acting, quickly securing lead roles. His notable performances include appearances in Pyaasa (1957), Janwar (1965), and Chaudhvin Ka Chand (1960). Rehman was a frequent collaborator with Guru Dutt. He received four Filmfare nominations for Best Supporting Actor throughout his career. Rehman passed away in 1979 after battling throat cancer.
