Red Buttons is an Academy Award-winning actor who played an American soldier in Sayonara (1957). He began his career as a child singing on street corners and later became a successful stand-up comic and songwriter. Buttons starred in the Broadway play "Winged Victory" before transitioning to film, where he appeared in The Longest Day (1962) and received Golden Globe nominations for Harlow (1965) and They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969). His television work includes The Red Buttons Show (1952), which won him an Emmy. He appeared in It Could Happen to You (1994).
