Rance Howard was an American actor who appeared in the film Cool Hand Luke (1967). He had a prolific career in both film and television, featuring in notable works such as Chinatown (1974), Splash (1984), and Apollo 13 (1995). Howard also acted in Universal Soldier (1992), The 'Burbs (1989), and The Dilemma (2011). He was the father of actor Ron Howard and grandfather of actresses Bryce Dallas Howard and Paige Howard. In addition to his acting career, he won a Primetime Emmy Award for co-producing the television film The Time Crystal (1981).
