Ralph Bellamy was an American actor whose career spanned 62 years across stage, screen, and television. He made his film debut in The Secret Six (1931) and appeared in notable films such as Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1932) and The Awful Truth (1937), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Throughout the 1940s, he portrayed detective Ellery Queen in several films and starred in the horror classic The Wolf Man (1941). Bellamy also found success on television, notably in the series Man Against Crime (1949-1956). He earned an Emmy Award nomination for his role in the mini-series The Winds of War (1983).
