Rachel Shelley is an English actress who played Elizabeth Russell in Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001). She graduated with a B.A. Hons in English and Drama from Sheffield University. Shelley portrayed Helena Peabody in the television series The L Word. Having grown up in London after moving from Swindon at a young age, she currently resides in Notting Hill. She is married to Mathew Parkhill and has a daughter born in 2009.
