Pierre Mondy was a French actor and director who made his on-screen debut in the film Rendez-vous de juillet (1949). He gained international acclaim for portraying Napoléon Bonaparte in Austerlitz (1960), directed by Abel Gance. Throughout his career, Mondy appeared in over 140 films, with notable works including the comedy Mais où est donc passée la septième compagnie? and the voice role of Caius Obtus in Asterix vs. Caesar (1985). He also had a significant television presence, starring in Les Cordier, juge et flic from 1992 to 2005. Mondy directed numerous theatre productions, including the original staging of La Cage aux folles in 1973.
