Phylicia Rashād is an American actress who won two Tony Awards for her performances on stage. She gained significant recognition for her portrayal of Clair Huxtable on the NBC sitcom The Cosby Show (1984–1992), earning two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Rashād's film credits include her voice role in the Disney-Pixar animated feature Soul (2020), as well as appearances in Creed III (2023), A Fall from Grace (2020), and The Beekeeper (2024). On Broadway, she made history as the first Black actress to win the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for A Raisin in the Sun (2004). Rashād also directed the play Purpose during its run at the Helen Hayes Theater on Broadway in 2024-2025.
