Philip Glenister is an English actor who portrayed DCI Gene Hunt in the series Life on Mars (2006–2007) and its sequel Ashes to Ashes (2008–2010). He has appeared in various television series, including State of Play (2003) and Outcast (2016–2018), and played notable roles in films such as Calendar Girls (2003) and Bel Ami (2011). Glenister's early career included work as a film publicist before he transitioned to acting, inspired by his brother's performance in a student play. He also starred in the ITV drama Demons (2009) as Rupert Galvin. Glenister collaborated with John Simm in the crime film Tuesday (2008).
