Phil Brown is an American actor who played Owen Lars in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977). After studying dramatics at Stanford University, he began his career in New York's Group Theater before moving to Hollywood, where he was involved in the founding of the Actors' Laboratory. Brown gained early recognition for portraying Nick Adams in Robert Siodmak's The Killers (1946). Following a blacklisting in 1952, he relocated to England, where he continued acting in theater, television, and film, as well as directing. In addition to Star Wars, his film credits include The Camp on Blood Island (1958). Brown's legacy includes his role in the Star Wars franchise.
