Peter Falk is an American actor who starred as Lieutenant Columbo in the series Columbo (1968–1978, 1989–2003). He received multiple accolades, including four Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award for his performance in this role. Falk was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor twice, for Murder, Inc. (1960) and Pocketful of Miracles (1961). His filmography includes notable titles such as It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), The Cheap Detective (1978), and Next (2007). Falk frequently collaborated with John Cassavetes, appearing in films like Husbands (1970) and A Woman Under the Influence (1974). He won his first Emmy Award in 1962 for The Dick Powell Theatre.
