Penelope Wilton is an English actress who starred as Isobel Crawley in the ITV drama Downton Abbey (2010–2015). She gained recognition for her role in the BBC sitcom Ever Decreasing Circles (1984–1989) and has appeared in films such as Shaun of the Dead (2004), The BFG (2016), and Calendar Girls (2003). Wilton also played the recurring character Harriet Jones in Doctor Who (2005–2008) and featured in Ricky Gervais' After Life. With a distinguished stage career, she received six Olivier Award nominations, winning the award for Best Actress in 2015 for Taken at Midnight.
