Paul Mescal is an Irish actor whose breakthrough role came in the BBC/Hulu miniseries Normal People (2020), where he won a BAFTA Award for Best Actor. He made his film debut in The Lost Daughter (2021) and received an Academy Award nomination for his performance in the coming-of-age drama Aftersun (2022). Mescal gained further acclaim for his work in All of Us Strangers (2023), the historical action film Gladiator II (2024), and as William Shakespeare in Hamnet (2025). His stage performance as Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire (2022) earned him a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor.
