Paul Benedict was an American actor who gained recognition for his role as The Number Painter on the PBS children's series Sesame Street. His career spanned several decades, beginning in the 1960s, during which he appeared in numerous films and television shows. He is also remembered for portraying Harry Bentley, the eccentric English neighbor, on the CBS sitcom The Jeffersons. Benedict's film credits include a role in The Addams Family (1991) and a notable appearance in the cult classic Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (1971), though he was often mistakenly credited for a different character. He passed away in 2008.
