Omid Djalili is a British stand-up comedian, actor, television producer, and writer who gained prominence with his show "Short, Fat Kebab Shop Owner's Son" at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1995. He has appeared in notable films such as Gladiator (2000), The Mummy (1999), and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007), as well as providing his voice in Over the Hedge (2006). Djalili starred as Nasim in the U.S. sitcom Whoopi, which featured Whoopi Goldberg, and received an international film award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Casanova (2005). He has also won several comedy awards, including the EMMA Award and the Spirit of the Fringe Award.
