Noel Purcell was an Irish actor who made his film debut in 1934. He appeared in Captain Boycott (1947), Moby Dick (1956), and Mutiny on the Bounty (1962). Purcell's career began at the age of 12 in Dublin's Gaiety Theatre, and he later toured with a vaudeville act. He was in The Blue Lagoon (1949) and was featured in The List of Adrian Messenger (1963) and The Mackintosh Man (1973), both directed by John Huston. In addition to acting, Purcell had a brief singing career, performing songs like 'The Dublin Saunter.' He was honored with the Freedom of the City of Dublin in 1984.
